Bridges
A bridge is an ideal treatment for filling the space created by one or more missing teeth. Bridges are comprised of one or more artificial teeth that our dentists will cement into place using the adjacent teeth for support, thus creating an actual tooth bridge. A bridge is a natural replacement both in function and in appearance for a missing tooth. Depending on your preferences and needs, your bridge could be made using all-ceramic material, a gold alloy, or porcelain bonded to metal alloy. For more information on bridges, or to schedule your appointment, please call Geneva Dental Care in Glenside today.
Composite Fillings
A composite (tooth-colored) filling is used to restore a decayed or damaged tooth to its normal shape, function, and color. For the most natural-looking results, composite fillings are matched to the color of your existing teeth.
Our dentists can place a composite filling in just one appointment at Geneva Dental Care. After removing the damaged or decayed portion of the tooth, we will clean the remaining healthy tooth and place the composite filling. At that point, the filling will be shaped and polished to match the contours of your natural tooth. This ensures that the function as well as the health and beauty of the tooth remain intact. For more information on composite fillings or the benefits of restorative dentistry, we invite you contact our office in Glenside today. We’ll be happy to answer your questions!
Crowns
Crowns, also known as dental caps, can enhance and restore damaged or imperfect teeth. Completely covering the natural tooth, a dental crown will improve the shape, size, and appearance of the tooth. Our dentists may recommend a dental crown in order to protect a weak or root canal-treated tooth, to improve aesthetics, to replace a large or fractured filling, or to complete a dental implant. Usually requiring just two appointments at Geneva Dental Care, your custom crown will be a beautiful and functional addition to your smile. Please call our office in Glenside today if you are interested in learning more about dental crowns or scheduling your consultation with one of our cosmetic dentists.
Dentures
Dentures are removable appliances used to replace your missing teeth and the surrounding tissues. At Geneva Dental Care in Glenside, we provide both complete dentures and partials. Both types of dentures are created to enhance your smile and improve your function so you can eat the foods you love once again. Complete dentures are created for those who have lost all of their natural teeth. These custom-created restorations are completely removable and may require one or more adjustments to create the most comfortable fit with the mouth and gums. Removable partial dentures are created for individuals who still have some natural teeth remaining in the lower or upper arch. Partials typically consist of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored base. Call us for more information on dentures and restorative dentistry!
Dental Implants
Dental implants are the most effective man-made tooth replacements available today. An implant is a metal tooth root that our periodontist, Dr. Mohammed, will surgically place into the jawbone. Over a period of a few months, the implant and jawbone will begin to fuse together, creating a stable and secure foundation for the dental implant restoration. Depending on how many teeth are missing, your implant restoration could be a bridge, a crown, or a denture. Once complete, your dental implant will restore the strength, function, health, and beauty of your smile. Implant dentistry is best for those who have a good quality and quantity of bone, so call Geneva Dental Care in Glenside today to discover if you’re a candidate for a dental implant!
Non-Surgical Gum Treatment
Achieving optimal oral health involves taking care of the gums and bones that support the teeth as well as the teeth themselves. Periodontal (gum) disease occurs when plaque and calculus (tartar) collect on the teeth and gums and can result in the loss of teeth. Periodontal disease has also been linked to more serious health problems, including pregnancy complications, heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. Signs of periodontal disease include:
- Gums that bleed easily and/or are red
- Loose teeth
- Receding gums
- Persistent bad breath
- Changes in the bite or position of the teeth
If you notice any of these signs, contact Geneva Dental Care in Glenside immediately so we can help you return to optimal oral health. We provide several non-surgical gum treatments, including scaling and root planing, to improve your oral health and halt the progress of periodontal disease.
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is often recommended when a cavity reaches the pulp of the tooth. In some cases, trauma to the tooth or deep dental restorations cause the tooth’s nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal therapy. Once this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and will begin eating away at the surrounding jawbone (this is known as an abscess). By the time the pulp has been infected it must be treated by a professional dentist because it cannot heal on its own. Those who experience sensitivity to sweets or hot/cold, swelling, pain, and/or a bad taste in the mouth may have an infected tooth pulp.
While there typically are symptoms related to an infected pulp, it is possible that no symptoms will emerge, which means the person is completely unaware of any problem until they visit the dentist. At that point, a root canal is performed using the latest equipment to clean out the infected tooth pulp and disinfect the tooth’s canals. Once the infection has been resolved, the canals are filled with a special dental material to prevent any further infection. Our dentists usually recommend placing a dental crown following root canal therapy to ensure that the tooth is protected and functionally sound.
